Lee Evans Tour 2011 – RoadRunner

17 October 2011 |

On Friday we made our way to the S.E.C.C to see Lee Evans. Trying to think about how long it has been since his last show, calculated about 3 years.  I’ve seen Lee Evans a couple of times now and he just goes from strength to strength. I honestly can’t wait till this DVD is released as I don’t think I stopped laughing. I still had sore cheeks the following day. The start and ending of the show is pure genuis… "Sweatyus Chimpeous". I'm not going to give much away as really you need to see it yourself. Lee always finished...

Hotmail up the ante with account security

31 July 2011 |

We all have numerous email accounts.  I have had a Hotmail account for over 10 years now and while some of my friends still use this to contact me on i mainly use it for newsletters, subscriptions etc. Normally anything I do with my Hotmail email is read, delete or archive.  This time i noticed a new option.   Having a quick search about led me to this blog post over on the Hotmail blog: http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_live/b/windowslive/archive/2011/07/14/hey-my-friend-s-account-was-hacked.aspx What’s interesting is that I thought it would be locked down do only email addresses on a live domain but the post determines that it works with any...

Checking out BBCs Domesday site

26 June 2011 |

Discovered this week the BBC’s Domesday site, a description for the site: (taken from site) In 1986 the BBC launched an ambitious project to record a snapshot of everyday life across the UK for future generations. A million volunteers took part…   Now, 25 years later you can explore the archive online, see the pictures, update the information and make your mark on this fascinating record of our collective history. Inverkeithing I searched the town nearby, Inverkeithing and this is what popped up.   The above can be seen at http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-312000-681000 Inverkeithing like most places have changed so much, with expansion, rebuildings etc. Princes St. from Calton Hill...

Cleaning up the junk

04 May 2011 |

Over the last couple of months my laptop has been slowly grinding to a halt. I posted a blog about small but useful tools that included a program called what’s in your startup. While this helped reduce the amount of applications loading up with windows, I wanted to clean up the rest of my laptop without having to do a full re-format. I had a hunt around the internet and found some good free applications. Before installing anything please check with the application requirements. I use Windows 7 but am sure most will work with the Windows platform. * Junk Yard picture...

The Approvals – Inverness Road Trip

13 March 2011 |

I wrote previously about our road trip to Inverness.  While we were there we went to a local pub that had local bands on over the weekend. On the Friday night having just managed to get food there a band called “The Approvals” started playing. Official YouTube Clip I can say that this band is fantastic. Along with lots of cover the band played they mixed in some of their own material and really we were blown away.   The Approvals Practicing If you’re ever in the area and you notice this band is playing go and see them. The Approvals...

#uksnow trend on twitter

16 December 2009 |

If you’re on twitter then you may have noticed the #uksnow appear in the trending topic. Watching the trend on twitter or a desktop client isn’t going to do anything for you. However, Ben March has developed the #uksnow Map 2.0 whereby a twitter user can update their status like the following #uksnow EH3 0/10. The status broken down.......

Britain has talent

01 June 2008 |

I'm not one for normal Saturday tv but last night I caught "Britains got talent".  The 10 finalists I have to say were fantastic.  If the winner wasn't chosen by the public then making a call like that would certainly be a tough one. For anyone interested in seeing the 10 finalists act again then here they are: Signature * 2nd most popular Kate & Gin Andrew Johnston * 3rd most popular Cheeky Monkeys Strike George Sampson * Winner Faryl Smith ...

Kid Beyond coming to the UK

07 March 2008 |

If anyone hasn't heard of Kid Beyond then you're certainly missing out on a talented beat boxer.  Below is a video from youtube of him showing how he works his magic.    I received an email today with details to be confirmed outlining attendance at the International Beatbox Convention in London, Apr 18 - 20. I would love to see Kid Beyond live but I don't think I'll be able to get down to London :( For anyone in the area I would recommend seeing him live as his Album "Amplivate" is class. iPod Update

06 December 2007 |

A while back you may remember that I posted an item Biggest iPod to date.  After posting the problem I was experiencing in the forums over at apple it would appear that my machine was confusing my iPod with a network drive.  After reading the article it all fell into place however what I was more confused about was where my iPod was getting its name from.  It's still not known but I am glad to have control over my iPod again. This leads me on to the following articles that were posted a couple of days ago over at lifehacker. ...

Cold Winter Sunset

03 December 2007 |

It's December, it's cold, it's magnificent. Tonight I was astonished by this view.  It's hard to believe that the rail bridge is 118 years old on the 4th of March 2008. For more information on the Forth Rail Bridge check out Forth Bridges Visitors Trust Website.

Biggest iPod to date?

09 October 2007 |

Today while I plugged my iPod in to be charged something strange happened that I haven't noticed before.  My ipod is a couple of years old (30gb photo) however, this morning it's name was "yoda" and it's Capacity was "176.77gb".    After running several variations of the above through Google I couldn't find anyone else experiencing this glitch.  I did uncover numerous forum topics such as "what do you name your ipod" of which some names were amusing.  It's a shame that the reported space can't be used however, an understanding to why this is happening would be good.

How good does the Apple iPhone look

16 June 2007 |

iPhone combines three amazing products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device.Source :http://www.apple.com/iphone/   This ad was forwarded to me.  The phone looks and sounds the business. Looking at it's spec I have to say that being revolutionary the onboard camera could have been a bit better rather than just 2 mega pixels.   The rest of the ads can be found at Apples wesbite http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/ Release date is the 29th of June 2007. Am not sure if...
