Cool free photo software

29 April 2011 |

This post is a carry on from my previous post organising photographs. If you’re like me I can snap away at random objects, landscapes, buildings, any excuse really. An example of this can be seen below taken on my way to work. Sunrise down at Leith Docks in Edinburgh. This photo isn’t the original as you can tell from the quality but it highlights that it’s moments like this you’re glad mobile phone technology has advanced over the years. Over time I have built up an arsenal of software I use to help process images. TSR Watermark Image If you’re going to be posting your...

Organising Photo’s

11 April 2011 |

A couple of weeks back I wrote about Free photo software – Why Pay? Lots of goodies out there to use, all bringing there own goodness to the table.  If you’re like me and have pics of everything and everyone then organising them can be a pain. 1st thing I do is make sure any photo’s taken off my iphone or my camera are backed up. First stop after being backed up is to place them up in the cloud. Create sets on Flickr upload and organise. This is where I started thinking about what if I didn’t use Flickr Pro...

Free photo software – Why Pay?

19 March 2011 |

Having an iPhone I find myself taking alot more spontaneous photographs.  By far I am not a professional photographer, but I like to think I have an eye for a picture.  At my old work place I use to use Macromedia Fireworks for touching up photographs or image manipulation/creation.  When leaving I started to hunt about to see if there were any good free opensource alternatives and I came across Paint.Net.  A year or so later I thought I would revisit this area to see if there are any others out there worthy of using. Something you don’t see every day

26 December 2009 |

As mentioned in my previous post we got a nice white Christmas this year with an impressive amount of snow.  While walking back from the shops i managed to take this picture on my phone: I hope the snow continues to be with us till the new year. I am hoping to get up north for some snowboarding as the webcams are showing good coverage on the majority of resorts.  I plan on hitting Aviemore, Nevis and Glencoe. Watch this space for pictures :) Have a nice Boxing Day, if you're travelling have a safe journey.   If you have any...

Photograph on the BBC

25 March 2008 |

Two weeks ago while experiencing power kiting for my 1st time in St Andrews I managed to take some photos.  After reviewing the photos I thought I would send 2 into the BBC. Over the weekend it was brought to my attention that 1 of my pictures was on the readers section.  I thought I would have received an email notifying me but there it was http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7307358.stm. Am chuffed to bits, shame they didn't put my web address up there ;)  More of the pictures I took can be found on my flickr page.
