Body Combat 50 Review

02 February 2012 |

Oh my god Dan and Rach where do you get, body combat 50 is another fantastic release. It’s been several weeks of teaching body combat 50, participants and fellow instructors all agree that this milestone is just epic. I experienced this release at the brave new world super quarterly in November and give some quick thoughts about it.  Near enough 2 months later and having taught it dozens of times I feel like I have a thorough grounding for the release. The poster calorie count shows an average of 737 calories burned within a 55 minute class. Over countless classes my Polar...

Bristol Super Quarterly Workshop Nov 2011

02 December 2011 |

Last weekend I attended my first super quarterly in Bristol. The decision was a spontaneous one but being the release of Body Combat 50 it just had to be done. Bristol is a lovely city. It would however appear that  the sign posts don't know what way they're pointing or if it's the right direction. I got lost going and leaving even with sat nav. Having arrived a little shy of the opening ceremony I didn't have alot of time to get changed and meet up with everyone. 1st programme of the day was Body Attack 75. I'm not a fan of the...

Les Mills Body Combat Aim 1

19 November 2011 |

Preparation Since booking my AIM Module I have been trying to up my game and concentrate on the basics so that I gained the best I could from this day.   I filmed myself many times teaching (still do) and asked fellow instructors to comment. Special thanks going out to Barbara Bailey and Vicki for giving me honest and constructive feedback. Cheers guys. Calm before the storm Couple of weekends ago (5/11/11) saw me going back to Broadwood, the place where it all began going from a body combat participant to an instructor to do my Advanced Instructors Module (AIM1). It’s been just over a...

Interview with co-program directors of Body Combat

14 November 2011 |

To Celebrate the release of Body Combat 50 Les Mills have posted an interview with Dan and Rach the co-program directors on youtube. I am quite excited about this release as the previous have been through the roof. Workshops are the beginning of next month and I can't wait to see everyone at Virgin Omni. Les Mills used Facebook and Twitter to connect with participants and instructors around the world and came up with a list of questions.  The interview is over 2 parts. Part 1 Source : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CsQOZJMJoA Part 2 Source : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB_4KfLMgig What would I ask? These videos got me thinking about questions I'd ask. ...

Body Combat 49 Review

16 October 2011 |

Over the last couple of weeks I have blogged  several times about this release but I haven’t gone into that much detail. First post was Body Combat 49 – Quarterly Workshop. The second post I was after opinions on what shorts to buy for Body Combat 49 Launch Week?  Alot of people replied via Twitter and the outcome was the Venum UK Flag MMA Shorts. I’ve been teaching this release for around 2 weeks now, I must say Dan and Rach have done it again. This is another fantastic release all the way from Les Mills headquarters. I honestly can’t wait...

Les Mills Body Combat - Class Format

01 October 2011 |

Having heard horrific stories about instructors throwing in tracks all over the place in Body Combat  to make the class “harder”, I thought I would post up the class guidelines set by Les Mills. These guidelines are in place for a reason. 45 Minute Format Track 1 - Upper & Lower Body Warmup Track 2 - Combat 1 Track 3 - Power Training 1 Track 4 - Combat 2 Track 6 - Combat 3 Track 7 - Muay Thai Track...

Body Combat 49 – Quarterly Workshop

04 September 2011 |

Another short and sweet quick post while it’s fresh in my head. Today saw me going over to Virgin Active in the Omni centre in Edinburgh for my quarterly workshop for Body Combat 49. The workshop was taken by 2 of the UK master trainers Shey Shehovich and Steve Tansey. It went off. I was a little worried about the music but after doing the choreography I have to say you’re going to love this release. Really the poster above says all, 737 calories, yes, 737. This release is what i am going to be doing my AIM module on and...

Body Combat AIM 1- Booked

17 August 2011 |

In July I wrote about My Journey from Body Combat participant to instructor. Would seem there are a lot of people out there who: Are in the process of taking that next step from participant to instructor. Thinking about taking that next step. I have been overwhelmed by people who have contacted me in relation to my initial post and all i can say is onwards and upwards guys. So AIM1 is booked for November where myself and other instructors will be picked apart and re-constructed by Tanya.  Really looking forward to it and...

My Journey from Body Combat participant to instructor

20 July 2011 |

This post has been sat in my drafts folder for about 5 months. I’ve not been teaching very long but I now think it's the right time to talk about my journey going from a participant to an Instructor. Hard to believe I started this over a year ago. I done my module in Aug 2010, received my official pass in Dec 2010, and started to teach proper in March 2011. Last June I wrote about “What’s Occurring” , taking the 1st step into what I can only describe now as a life changing experience.  For anyone thinking about going...

Body Combat 48 - Review

11 July 2011 |

Well I wrote about Body Combat 48 release just after I done my first workshop at the beginning of June. Saturday the 25th saw me attend an internal workshop for Bannatyne’s as I was struggling with timing on two of the tracks. Our UK master trainer was again Shey Shehovich ( we had her for Bannatyne’s internal Body Combat 47 training ) and the aftermath of this workshop was the same as the last. Shoulders and legs destroyed. This release has yet to be the hardest I’ve learnt and taught since I became a certified Body Combat Instructor (blog post still...

Body Combat 48 – Quarterly Workshop

11 June 2011 |

This is going to be a short and sweet post. I am just back from Stirling Body Combat workshop which was taken by the UK master trainer - Giovanni Sacco. This release if i was to wrap it up “goes on and on and on”. I feel like I’ve worked every muscle in my body. Reality is that this release is awesome. The last couple of track 5’s have had mixed reviews, this track 5 I had to check the cd player, prepare to work  hard. I am looking forward to getting this release nailed and delivered. In the words of Les...

Latest Body Combat Mix

05 June 2011 |

Been doing body combat 47 for a while now and it seems it doesn’t want to go away. Myself, fellow instructors, and participants are loving this release however, time has come to mix in some other tracks. Wednesday night I decided to try a mix I had in the back of my head. This mix involved learning tracks from releases pre my certification. I have written before about my top 10 body combat tracks between releases 40 and 44. This mix has a couple from this track listing. Dragostea Din Tei – Body Combat 41 ...

What’s Occurring?

10 June 2010 |

Wow, it’s been 4 months since I last marked the internet with a blog post.  How time flies by and how things change.  I really don’t know where to begin but right now life is on a huge high.  A couple of months ago I changed jobs, no longer do i work in the beautiful city of Edinburgh but instead work locally. Not only have i moved working location but i have also changed industries.  Working previously in a law firm brought many merits, being able to expose new technologies to help the firm succeed to new friendships.  Now I...
